FULL NAME: Uriel
OTHER NAMES: Angel of Wisdom, Angel of Light; she's not super fond of Uri, but she'll let it slide if you're on good terms
AGE: Old AF but a baby compared to other archangels
GENDER: Genderless, but identifies as female in this form (responds to she/her/hers)
MARITAL STATUS: Single
SIBLINGS: Michael, Lucifer, Gabriel, Raphael, Azrael
• Kristín Jakobsdóttir, 27 (10/02/1970). A journalist in 1990s United Kingdom who was born and raised in Iceland.
• Pushed down a flight of stairs by a member of MI5 because of a paper she was writing about the United Kingdom secret service and corruption within it.
• Was not super spiritual, but began praying more frequently when she began to understand that she was being monitored. Regardless, she gladly accepted Uriel, happy to play a small role in Uriel's function as an angel of wisdom.
• Was in very fragile physical condition when Uriel took hold. Whether or not she actually would have died, however, is debatable (as is how long she would have lived even if she survived the fall).
• Has taken up post as a journalist, blogger and vlogger in the ensuing years.
• Had a child as a teenager and gave the baby (a girl) up for adoption.
• Uriel's true vessel.
I can tell you in part; but I was not sent to tell you concerning your life, for I do not know.
Created after the fall of Lucifer, Uriel was made by God to be the most insightful and intellectual archangel. In Christian canon, therefore, Uriel is associated with light, insight and knowledge. In addition to this association, Uriel is also known as the angel of repentance; he stood guard at the gates of Eden, and helped bury Adam and Abel in paradise.
Uriel testified on behalf of humankind before God during the fall of the Grigori. Uriel was also the archangel sent to warn Noah of the coming of the Great Flood, which also positioned him to assist Noah (along with Gabriel, Raphael and Michael) in the building of Noah's Ark. Alongside Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, Uriel was tasked with eradicating the Nephilim (a generation of children born from a sect of fallen angels with human lovers) on Earth and later casting Watchers into the pits of Hell to await Final Judgement.
In more modern interpretations, the archangel Uriel is associated with many things including the sun, the flame of God, the archangel who presides over Hell, and the archangel of salvation who is often depicted with a book or scripture, as he is a patron of the arts—specifically poetry. Throughout the ages, Uriel has been sought out by mortals who are in need of help making decisions, solving conflict, seek creative inspiration, assistance in discerning wisdom, recognizing danger and letting go of negative emotions.
The fighting and squabbling among her family has often boiled down to Uriel, basically, to be somewhat trivial. It is the concern the archangel holds for her brethren that has kept her invested in and up-to-date with what is going on among them, even as she has spent a great deal of time living among humans. Like Gabriel, her love for humanity has grown as a result, though unlike him, she has not been able to submerge herself so wholly in their world. Given her accessibility to countless amounts of knowledge and eons of data, Uriel still has one key thing about humanity that is constantly elusive: the inferiority of their personal and individual experiences. As a result, she is prone to ask personal, private and uncomfortable questions, just as often as she is asked to explain some theory, some bit of history, or what song was that, you know the one that played in that movie about the guy?
Uriel found her true vessel in the mid-1990s when she was nearly murdered in London, England. Kristín was a professional journalist, but also a published poet. Kristín's desperate and arguably foolhardy search for truth and the administration of justice were among the characteristics that drew Uriel to her. Like Uriel, Kristín lacked some personal relationship skills; she was a lonely, hard-working woman who had spent her years in higher education and career far away from home and family.
Although not prophetic, Uriel tends--to this day--to speak of the future in the way a magic eight-ball might. She uses trends and patterns to make educated guesses regarding the future, and tends to favour the more cynical outcomes for humanity, regardless of how warmly she appreciates and admires them.
just to be seen by my eyes.
→ The vast knowledge she possesses can be limited by what God allows her to know or not to know. What humans and other humanoid creatures know, however, Uriel has had access to at some point, no matter how fleeting, obscure, important or inane. This can sometimes cause overload in hosts, making behaviour erratic. The result is that Uriel must unload and upload large facets of this information and does not have access to all things at all times.
→ Uriel can impart knowledge to anyone at will; it's not, however, a perfect science, and sometimes this has caused people to go mad. For others, however, it has given them sparks of utter brilliance.
→ Like all of her brethren, she's possesses a flaming sword.
→ Known for sewing and inciting discord among mortals by granting wealth and inspiring mortals to ignore strict rules and social norms.
→ Patron angel of the Sacrament of Confirmation and of poetry.
→ Uriel can summon, control and manipulate fire, even if it's use these days is more for the sake of being flashy than anything else.
